The Ganga Vilas Cruise has completed the Guwahati leg of its journey today. It will now continue to travel upstream towards the final stop in upper Assam.
The tourists onboard the Ganga Vilas Cruise reached the city of Guwahati yesterday. The local authorities organised a reception for the visitors at the Inland Water Authority of India’s port in Pandu. And they were welcomed to the city with local food and beverages and traditional music and dance.
The popular Kamakhaya Temple of Assam was a stop for the tourists onboard the maritime vessel. The visitors got a guided tour of the age old temple on the morning of February 21. The tourists expressed their happiness on visiting this destination of cultural, religious and historical importance.
The Assam State Museum was the second stop for the tourists on their itinerary for the city. They went through the artifacts preserved in the institution and gained some insight to the history of the state.
After the completion with this leg of the trip, the group moved upstream on the Brahmaputra river. The next stop for the Ganga Vilas Cruise will be the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary. The trip will then proceed towards Kaziranga National Park, Majuli and end in Dibrugarh.
