Goa Approves New Tourism Policy in the State

The Goa Tourism Policy 2020 was approved by the state cabinet on Wednesday. Two of the major points approved by the cabinet was to discourage tourists from consuming drugs and keeping budget tourists from cooking in public places.

As per reports the Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar said that apart from the main objective of the tourism policy was to promote scenic natural beauty of the state focusing specially on teh beaches.

“Goa’s beauty is famous all over the world. We have to take tourism ahead by promoting its culture and natural beauty,” Ajgaonkar said in a report.

“We want good tourists. We do not want drugs and tourists who consume drugs. We do not want people who cook food on the streetside,” added the minister.

In the last few years, the issue of budget tourists camping and cooking in public places has been an issue of debate in the Assembly. The new tourism policy introduces the Goa Tourism Board which mostly consists experts and stakeholders from tourism industry. They have been assigned to identify and implement the tourism goals.
