One of the most popular tourist destinations in India, Goa reopens for domestic tourists from 2nd July 2020. State Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar made the announcement of the reopening on Wednesday.
The coastal state will reopen with some precautions. To enter the state the tourists will have to provide a Covid-19 negative certificate within stipulated 48 hours window. In case a tourist doesn’t have one, he/she will have to undergo a mandatory Covid test at the state border. The tourists, then will have to stay at the state-run quarantine centers till the results arrive.
The Tourism Minister informed that currently 250 hotels have been granted permission to operate in the state. The permitted hotels will run adhering to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) provided the state govt.
Pre-booking for accommodation is also mandatory for all the tourists. However the tweet has no mention about foreign tourists.
The decision comes on the day when India enters the second phase of reopening after the Covid -19 lockdowns. Unlock 2 aims to get India back on track. The notification from Ministry of Home Affairs did not mention about Foreign Tourists in India.
