The government of Goa has taken the decision to photograph and fine tourists found without wearing masks. The decision was taken after several tourists in the state were found roaming without masks. The announcement was made on Monday by the Panaji Mayor Uday Madkaikar.
“In view of these unnecessary tussles, police will now accompany our municipality officials during drives to enforce the use of face masks in public. Photos of tourists who do not follow the rule will also be taken before they are directed to pay fines’, Madkaikar said in a report.
He added that police will be responsible for such tourists violating the norm. They will be photographed and imposed a fine of Rs 200.
The beach state been witnessing a huge influx tourists after the state opened its borders for tourists.
