The Ministry of Civil Aviation has permitted the airlines to serve meals on flights. The service of meals remained suspended even after the resumption of domestic flight operations from May 25. The revised guidelines have been issued by the Ministry on Thursday.
Two separate SOPs have been issued for both domestic and international flights. In Domestic Flights airlines will be able to serve pre-packed snacks/ meals/ pre-packed beverages as per the policy of the Airlines depending on the duration of flight time subject to the following conditions.
In case of International flights, hot meals and limited beverages as per the standard practices subject to the strict compliance with the conditions given by the ministry.
In all classes, tray set-up, plates and cutlery will be completely disposable with no re-use cleaned and disinfected rotatable will be used.
Also, tea/coffee/ non-alcoholic beverage services will be in disposable cans/containers/bottles/glasses. There will be no pouring service and beverages will be served in single use disposable units. As per the fresh guidelines, the crew is directed to wear a fresh set of gloves for every meal/beverage service.
The passengers would be informed of all the directed practices for strict compliance before the start of catering services by way of passenger announcements.
The tourism is sector is by far the worst hit by the Covid-19 pandemic and the Government of India is currently trying its best to reopen this segment without spreading infection.
