A new airport bus service has been launched to connect the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA) to different parts of the city. Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) has started this new service on Monday, July 3.
This new airport bus service will be operated by a fleet of five to six air-conditioned buses by the ASTC. And they will offer direct connectivity to the Guwahati International Airport from Paltan Bazar and Khanapara. Apart from making the journey comfortable, this service also aims to make the trip affordable. To that end, ASTC has kept the fare of these buses at Rs 100. Meaning that one can travel to the airport from Paltan Bazar or Khanapara or vice versa at that price.
Although the airport is not very far from the city, the lack of regular and direct public transport creates problems for the public. Either they have to leave very early and change multiple forms of transport to reach the airport. Or they can pay more and take cab services which charge Rs 500 to Rs 2000 based on the rush. Affordable public transport will also reduce the load of private as well as commercial vehicles at the airport.
One of the primary objectives of the Guwahati Airport aims to guarantee the safety of all passengers. And this aim extends beyond the perimeter of the airport. This new bus service will strictly adhere to the guidelines and regulations issued for the same. These buses will run with fixed schedules, ensuring that passengers can take proper benefits. The authorities at Guwahati International Airport Limited have requested all passengers to use this service. The schedule for the same is available on the ASTC website. Also, there is customer service at the airport and a dedicated counter aimed at the same.
