The Guwahati Ropeway connects both banks of the Brahmaputra and since its opening, it has been one of the popular modes of communication. And the authorities have decided to introduce discounted tickets for the people use this service regularly. It came as an announcement from the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority.
The Guwahati Ropeway is also the fastest method to travel between both the banks of the river. The usual roadway takes more than hour and half, but the current flyover constructions increase the travel time. The next option is the use of the ferry services which takes nearly half an hour. But ferry services are often cancelled during the monsoons or when the weather becomes too windy. This makes the ropeway service the fastest mode to travel between the banks. And it takes about ten minutes to cover the distance.
But the cost of travelling is also very high, making it near impossible for daily commute. To solve that problem the authorities have decided to reduce the prices for those who take the trip regularly. One way tickets can be availed at Rs. 25 and two way tickets at Rs. 50. People need to carry a valid identification document to show the need of the travel for buying these tickets. This facility will be available from 8:30 to 10:30 in the morning and 4:30 to 6:30 in the afternoon.
