Guwahati Traffic Police Issues Restrictions, Diversions for Tarun Gogoi’s Funeral Procession



In view of the funeral procession and of former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi to be in Guwahati on Thursday 26th November, the Guwahati traffic police has issued certains traffic guidelines to be followed. The mortal remains of the former CM will be first taken in procession from Srimanta Sankadev Kalashetra, Panjabari to the official residence at Ministers Colony, Dispur. The procession will then move to Church at Rukminigaon, Namghar at RG Baruah Road, Ambari Bura Masjid, Sukleswar Temple, Ugratara temple then finally to Navagraha Crematorium.

For a hassle free journey, the Guwahati Traffic Police has issued the following restrictions and diversions-

The cenikuthi bylane connecting to Nabagraha crematorium will remain blocked.

  • The connecting road from Nabagraha temple to the cemetery will be closed.
  • Vehicles only coming out from the Nabagraha side will be allowed.

  • TC point- The vehicles from Lamb road side will be diverted towards B.Barooah road.

  • Chandmari Point- Vehicles coming from the Noonmati will be be diverted towards Zoo Road.
  • Strict no parking on the following roads-
    -GNB toad- from Guwahati Club upto Tribune office (both sides)
    – Navagraha road- from Silpukhuri upto beyond cemetery
    – Karnachal road- from Navagraha road turning upto Bhupen Hazarika House point.
    -Karnachal road Bye lane, behind kali mandor.

  • Parking will be allowed at Assam Engineering Institute Field, Chandmari

  • All pilot/escort vehicles of protected persons comjng to the funeral will be cut at the Silpukhuri -Navagraha road junction and they should proceed to AEI field Chandmari for parking or to the Guwahati Club rotary.

  • Persons coming to attend the funeral will have to park their vehicles at AEI field Chandmari and proceed to the Crematorium.

  • Other vehicles accompa ying the vehicle carrying the mortal remains will be cut af the Silpukhuri point. Only the main truck will be allowed upto the Crematorium.

    Tarun Gogoi, the longest serving CM of Assam, breathed his last on Monday after suffering from post-covid complications and multiple organ failures.
