Himachal Pradesh Eases Restrictions for Visitors

Himachal Pradesh government on Monday decided to relax restrictions on entry of travelers into the state. The decision was taken in a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur.

The decision comes after the Union home secretary Ajay Bhalla urged all states and Union Territories to remove restrictions on inter-state and intra-state movement of persons and goods.

During the cabinet meeting, the state govt took the decision of reducing the minimum stay of the tourists to two days from five days.

As reported by TOI, a person shall not require an entry pass to enter the state. However, the registration is mandatory as it would help the administration for tracking and contact tracing if anyone is found positive.

“We have developed our own mechanism. The visitors from other states are required to get themselves registered at E-Covid portal. This is necessary for the purpose of contact tracing and maintaining a record of persons coming to the state, their destinations and period/places of stay. It will continue for sometime now,” Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said.

The state government has also relaxed the norm for the tourists to carry Covid-19 negative reports. Previously, it was mandatory for a visitor to bring along a Covid-19 negative certificate issued by a certified laboratory 72 hours prior to entry in the state. Now, the limit has been extended to 96 hours.

The Chief Minister also informed that it will require some time for inter-state buses and night travel facility to resume in the state.
