In view of the large number of picnics going on across the region, the district authorities have released a list of regulations. These will be valid in the picnic spots in and around the city.
The following is the list of regulations for picnics.
- Number of people and groups entering a spot will be monitored by the local authorities.
- Parties will look into the proper disposal of all wastes. Non-bio-degradable materials must not be disposed of at the venues.
- Polluting natural water bodies is strictly banned.
- Gamblic or any other illegal activities are strictly banned.
- Adventure sports, fishing, and swimming are banned until special permissions are taken for such activities at the destinations.
- Loud music, shouting or hooliganism is prohibited.
- Tranquil atmosphere near the Deepor Beel region should not be disturbed.
- Removal or defacing signage at picnic spots is now illegal.
- Digging, cutting of trees or any other activity that causes disturbance to nature is discouraged
- Food vendors or caterers are not allowed, unless permission is taken beforehand
- Firecrackers, firearms or shooting is prohibited in these areas.
- Setting up of temporary structures is banned
- Smoking and drinking alcoholic drinks is prohibited.
- Electricity connection should not be provided for any activity other than lighting.
- Riding of bicycles and other vehicles inside the marked areas is prohibited.
- Political or Religious events will not be allowed in picnic places.
- Permissions for picnic spots have to be taken from the Commissioner of Police.
The public gathering is also prohibited near the protected forest areas of the region. Anyone found engaging in littering will be fined by the competent authorities. The forest department will look into marking the positions where picnics are allowed and where they are not.
