The key attraction of nature enthusiast tourists coming to Assam, the Kaziranga National Park, opens its doors today. Alongside Kaziranga National Park , the Manas National Park also opens its doors for tourists from today. Orang National Park was already reopened yesterday for visitors.
The reopening of the National Parks is considered the official beginning of the tourist season in the state. A vast majority of all the domestic and foreign tourists coming to the state have atleast one safari in one of the national parks in their itinerary. Kaziranga National park being the home of the one horned rhinoceros, is one of the most popular tourist destinations. While wilderness lovers prefer to visit Manas National Park. Both of these reserves are also home to the Royal Bengal Tiger. the national animal of India.
Apart from the normal accommodations and visits, both the parks have options of jeep safari and elephant safari. Also special birding tours are also organised by several organisations. One can also enjoy the traditional and ethnic cuisines of various tribes in the vicinity of both the Kaziranga National Park and Manas National Park.
Because of the COVID-19 global pandemic and the lockdowns associated with it, these tourist destinations have been closed for visitors for quite some time now. The Government of Assam has taken several steps to help various people working for the help of tourists in these regions. This includes special training for the drivers and guides working in various safaris.
