Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday ceremonially opened the doors of Kaziranga National Park for the 2020-21 season. The tourist hotspot had remained closed for about 8 months.
As per reports, Jeep Safari has been made available from Wednesday itself. However, Elephant Safari will begin from November.
The authorities had earlier informed that the jeep safari will be started in Kohora and Bagori Ranges of the Park from the 21st of October. The other two ranges will reopen later, from November.
Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that opening the Kaziranga National Park for domestic and foreign tourists could revive the tourism sector of the state after the pandemic.
He also spoke about the active schemes of the government to uplift the people employed in various avenues of the tourism sector. And also requested everyone to follow the Covid-19 safety protocols.
Post inauguration, the Chief Minister also took a jeep safari into the national park. He was also accompanied Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, Water Resources Minister Keshab Mahanta, Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, MLA Rituparna Baruah and PCCF (Wild Life) AM Singh.
