Ladakh Reopens Pangong for Tourists

Ladakh administration reopened their Pangong Tso Lake for tourists from Januaray 10th amid the standoff between the Indian and Chinese militaries. The information was shared by Ladakh parliamentarian Jamyang Tsering Namgyal on twitter. He further informed that tourists need to apply for Inner Line Permits at lahdclehpermit.in.

The decision was taken amid the pandemic as well as the border tensions with China. However, the reopened region is not located near the flash points between the countries.

Tourists are required to carry a Covid-19 negative certificate to visit all destinations without restrictions. The certificate should not be older than 72 hours. The tourists will have to comply by 7-day quarantine for which they will have to book hotels in advance.

Pangong-Tso was declared out of bounds for non-locals due to Indo-China conflict. Since then outsiders were restricted within a 40-km radius of Leh.
