The Tourism Department of the Meghalaya Government has organized an awareness event on Thursday, August 10. Titled Motorhome Meghalaya, this event aimed to promote Caravan Tourism in the state of Meghalaya.
Motorhome Meghalaya saw the presence of caravan experts from across the country. Tourism stakeholders from across the state also attended this event. This included tour guides, tour operators, hoteliers and other service providers of the industries. Experts from the field shared their insights and expectations regarding caravan tourism. The event saw multiple sessions including extensive discussions on this topic. The types and capabilities of such vehicles were also discussed in this meeting. The experts also attempted to answer the queries of the participants regarding this new avenue of tourism.
Necessary rules and regulations for the implementation of caravan tourism were also discussed. Requirements, including benchmarks and safety measures, were also discussed among the participants. Preventing any further damage to nature because of tourism activities was also among the discussed topics.
The state of Meghalaya has some of the best landscapes to offer to tourists. Some of the locations have immense natural beauty. And the existing accommodation facilities including hotels, resorts and home stays cannot do ample justice to the same. To that end, caravan tourism has immense possibilities in Meghalaya. This will allow the tourists to pitch their vehicles near the tourist destinations of the state. Locations near the exquisite waterfalls and the beautiful valleys will now double up as accommodations. The concept of caravan tourism is also expected to boost the tourism sector of the state. This makes it one of the few states of the country to actively allow and promote caravan tourism.
