The Nagaland government has finally decided to reopen the state for domestic tourism starting from December 27. The northeastern state has put a ban on entry if tourists since nine months due to the pandemic.
The state government informed that the reopening of the tourism sector will happen in a phased manner. There will be just one entry point from Dimapur by road, rail and air transport. The decision was taken in during a high-profile meeting held recently.
Guidelines for tourists
- Tourists visiting Nagaland will be required to obtain an Inner Line Permit (ILP).
- After obtaining ILPS, the tourists will need to mandatorily register on the state tourism portal www.tourism.nagaland.gov.in or install ‘The Nagaland Tourism App’ and generate an E-Invite for the proposed itinerary.
- In the first phase, the ILP will be available only in the online mode through the portal www.ilp.nagaland.gov.in.
- Tourists will have to show a Covid-negative certificate dated not earlier than three days prior to arrival in Nagaland.
- The test must be done by RT-PCR, TrueNat, or CBNAAT. The RAT negative test of Covid-19 will not be considered adequate for entry into the state.
- Persons above the age of 65, persons with co-morbidities, pregnant women, and children below the age of 10 have been advised to avoid travelling in view of the risk of transmission.
- Tourists having symptoms of COVID-19 will mandatorily be tested as per the state Health Department’s protocols, even if they possess COVID-19 negative reports.
