The Government of Assam has released a new set of Standard Operating Procedures to control the further spread of the COVID-19 virus in the state via travelers. The previous SOP allowed for further re-opening of the state of Assam.
Even though the number of infections in the state are under control, continuous screening is still maintained. All entry points for incoming travelers at airports, railway stations and roads are checked to prevent a possible third wave. Also continuous vaccinations are being carried out across the state.
Also the testing facilities are now available across the country to provide standardized COVID-19 test reports within 24 hours and upload the same in ICMR portal for cross verification when necessary.
So the following steps are being taken by the Government of Assam.
- All incoming passengers, who have been vaccinated with both doses of any approved COVID 19 vaccine and has a certificate to prove it, on production of the same in front of screening Authority, will be exempted from mandatory testing on arrival at Airports, Railway stations, Road Border Points across Assam.
- However, passengers who are vaccinated with a single dose or not vaccinated at all and those who are found to be symptomatic even with two doses of vaccination, will have to undergo mandatory RT-PCR testing at their own cost on arrival at airports, railway stations etc. in Assam. A subsidized rate of Rs 250/- only per RT-PCR test shall be charged.
- Children below 10 years of age along with double vaccinated parent(s)/ guardian(s) coming to Assam are hereby exempted from the mandatory COVID-19 testing. However, voluntary paid testing for such children shall be facilitated if the parents/ guardians so desire.
This order will come into force with immediate effect and stay as such till any further orders.
