Northeast Frontier Railways has expanded its network and now a new train adds the Northeast Indian states of Manipur and Tripura to the connectivity of the Indian Railways.
The new trains numbered 12097 and 12098 will connect the cities of Agartala in Tripura and Jiribam in Manipur. The Union Minster of Railways, Communications, Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw flagged off these trains via video conferencing.
Both these trains are Jan Satabdi Expresses. And the trains will run three days every week, that is on the Mondays, Wednesday and Friday. Jan Satabdi Express Train number 12097 will leave from Agartala at 6:00 AM on the given days and reach Jiribam at 12:00 Noon. The Jan Satabdi Express train number 12098 will leave from Jiribam at 4:00 PM and reach Agartala by 10:00 at night.
These Jan Satabdi Express trains will have a total of ten coaches. That consists of two air-conditioned chair cars, two second class chair cars cum break van and total of ten second class chair cars. These trains will not just ensure better connectivity between the states, but also enable more trade and commerce between these places. They will also ensure more tourism opportunities.
