In a new development, Inner Line Permit ( ILP ) is no longer required for visiting the Union Territory of Ladakh. Previously Indian citizens needed to get this document in order to visit this region.
Inner Line Permit or ILP is a document issued by the government or administration of a state or union territory to allow Indian citizens to enter this region. It is used to control the flow of people and to protect the nature, culture and traditions of these protected areas. For example the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Mizoram are few of the places which need an ILP to visit. It is similar to a Visa, but is valid for Indian nationals.
This order came as an order from the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh today.
Travelers across the country has welcomed this decision taken by the administration. Located in the lap of the majestic Himalayas, this region has been a favorite destination for trippers. It is famous for its picturesque landscapes, beautiful flowing valleys and flat unending cold desert. Apart from the natural beauty, Ladakh also offers some very challenging routes for the enthusiasts including the World’s Highest Motorable Road.
