Assam Forest and Environment Minister Parimal Suklabaidya on Wednesday inaugurated the Bhomoraguri River tourism zone at Tezpur alongside the bank of river Brahmaputra. This Eco tourism site falls under Nagaon Wildlife Division of Kaziranga National Park.
The inauguration was attended by Water Resource Minister Keshab Mahanta along with Panchayat and Rural Development minister Naba Kumar Doley.
Earlier the Minister said that the site will have picnic, camping and boating facilities. “Besides promoting riverine tourism,it will also provide employment opportunities to the fringe villagers of the park”, he added.
Promotion of river tourism is vital for the economic development of the locals. This will not only attract tourists but also generate income and livelihood facilities.
