The Dzumsa of Lachen in Sikkim has allowed tourists to stay in the valley after a consultation with MLA cum Minister Samdup Lepcha. A notification on was issued by the Pipon of Lachen Dzumsa on Friday.
For Tourists
As per the notification tourists will be allowed to stay in Lachen from 20th November. Since most of the hotels in the region are ready for bookings, the permit cell, (the Police check post, Gangtok) and Tourism Department can issue the permit to stay in Lachen and Gurudongmar Lake tour with immediate effect.
The SOP issued by the tourism department, govt of Sikkim shall be followed by strictly followed by the stakeholders.
Hotels shall have all the necessary equipment (infrared thermometer, sanitizing system for both guests and luggage etc.)
Hotels shall do regular basic medical check up of staff.
Lachen Dzumsa along with the medical team, police shall inspect every hotel time to time.
Every hotel should maintain hygienic environment in the premises.
For Other Workers
All workers including carpenters, ,mason, laborers etc. who want to come and work or have to stay for 7 days home quarantine and after the inspection of the health they can go for work.
Although, the Himalayan state opened its borders for tourists from October 10, Lachen remained closed for tourism activities to contain the spread of the virus. Recently, Sikkim lifted restrictions on seating capacity in Public transport. Read the details here.
Lachen valley is one of the most important locations of the state of Sikkim. Being an important pit-stop for travelers in the North District of the state along with Lachung valley.
