The Ministry of Tourism inaugurated a state of the art golfing project in Mizoram to enhance Golf Tourism in India. For this project titled Thenzawl Golf Resort, an amount of Rs 64.48 crore has been sanctioned under Swadesh Darshan Scheme’s ‘Integrated Development of New Eco Tourism’.
The Thenzawl Golf Resort project was virtually inaugurated by the Tourism Minister of India Prahlad Patel on Tuesday.
The total site area of the golf course is spread up to 105 acres and the play area is 75 acres – 18 Hole Golf Course with Sharing Fairway and automated sprinkler irrigation system by Rain Bird, USA. It has been designed by Graham Cooke and Associates, a top-ranked Golf Course architectural firm based in Canada. The designing & architecture is done with an aim to cater the international standards along with providing quality golfing experience to the tourists.
30 Eco-Log Huts, Cafeteria, Open Air Food Court, Reception area and Waiting Lounge etc. have been constructed with Siberian Pinewood and fully furnished with world-class furniture and fixtures.
Owing to the climatic condition of India, Golf Tourism has a huge potential compared to other countries. The scenic natural beauty along with the hospitality can add to prosperity of this sector of tourism. India currently boasts of more than 200 golf courses. This project can be a valuable addition to the infrastructure of sports tourism in India.
Northeast India already has a few noteworthy Golf Courses for enthusiasts. These include the Kaziranga Golf Resort , Digboi Golf Course, Shillong Club Golf Course and Yak Golf Course and Environmental Park.
