Meghalaya Government on Friday took up the decision to reopen 3 popular tourist spots of the state including Ward’s Lake, Lum Nehru Park & Elephant Falls. These spots will reopen with effect from 1st September 2020 for local tourism.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma took to twitter to make the announcement of the reopening.
Sangma informed that the decison has been taken to boost the local tourism within the state. The spots will operate in accordance with health protocols and SOPs laid down by the Government, further stated the Chief Minister.
Meghalaya government is also ready with the master plan for the development of the Nokrek Tourist Circuit. As stated by Sangma, the work for the tourist circuit shall commence by November 2020.
Recently, the Chief Minister had also conducted a video conference with officials from the Fisheries Department to discuss the redevelopment plan of the Fishery Complex. The redevelopment is on the cards to add to its aesthetic appeal for tourism purposes at the tourist spots.
Under the previous order of the state government, the entry points to the state were to remain closed for one week every month.
Meghalaya currently stands at 1222 active cases of Covid-19.
