The DC and Police Commissioner of Guwahati addressed a press meet today. This was regarding the rules and regulations for the upcoming Ambubachi Mela. Guwahati Police have released a traffic advisor for the Ambubachi Mela 2023. The traffic advisory was released by the Guwahati Police Commissioner Diganta Barah on Tuesday. And these restrictions will be in play from June 22 to June 26. Also, the following are the key details of the traffic advisory.
Vehicles will not be allowed to enter the main road leading to the temple at the foot of Nilachal Hill. Only ferry vehicles, vehicles with essential services, and vehicles belonging to the temple authorities and the local residents who are authorized by the district administration will be allowed.
No commercial goods-carrying vehicles will be allowed to ply on DG Road, MG Road and AT Road. This restriction will apply to heavy, medium and small commercial vehicles on these days. 3-wheeler commercial goods-carrying vehicles will be allowed to ply from 12 AM to 6 AM.
Inter-district and long-distance buses will not be allowed on DG Road, MG Road and AT Road. ASTC-operated buses are also included in this restriction.
Vehicles from the Maligaon side will drop the devotees at Kamakhya Gate and park at Sonaram Field. And the vehicles from the Bharalumukh side will also drop the devotees at Kamakhya Gate and park at the Adabari bus stand or Boripara field.
No vehicles will be allowed to ply on the newly constructed road. This road connects the Pandu Temple Ghat to the Kamakhya Trinath Temple.
The district administration also issued a set of rules for the event. Also, the Kamakhya Devalaya issued its own set of regulations for the event.
