A curtain raiser event was organized at the Meghalayan Age in New Delhi. It coincided with the two-year anniversary of the Meghalayan Age. And announced the Winter Tales festival. The Winter Tales festival is ready to attract visitors during its fourth edition. The three-day event is from 14th to 16th December at the serene Ward’s Lake (Nan Polok) in Shillong.
Dr. Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh attended the curtain raiser event as the chief guest. The Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare expressed her happiness regarding the success of the event over the years. A video chronicling the remarkable journey of Winter Tales from its inception in 2020 to its current standard was screened at the event.
During her speech, the minister spoke about the way Shillong has grown over the years. And mentioned the need for partnership and handholding for the further growth of the city and the state as a whole. She also wished for the success of the Winter Tales festival. Calling it a glimpse of the art and talent of the state, she invited everyone to be a part of the same.
WinterTales 2023 aims at sustainability, entertainment, and craftsmanship and providing enriching experiences while preserving the environment. This edition of the festival will introduce solar lighting to reduce its ecological footprint. It is a platform for local entrepreneurs to showcase their talents in music, crafts, arts, food, weaving, and more. And promotes a personal connection between visitors and the people of Meghalaya.
She also unveiled “Meghalayan Scapes”, a 2024 calendar featuring the artworks of P. Kharlukhi. This calendar takes one on a visual journey through the picturesque landscape of the state and its rich heritage. P. Kharlukhi has been a regular contributor to the festival in the past years.
Overall, the festival promises to be a memorable celebration of the state’s rich heritage and the essence of the winter season.
